Caroline Nijland started her business Helios Infinitas in July 2018. Her company is providing advisory services, business development, project management, training and lobbying in the field of renewable energy / rural electrification and private sector investments. Since 1997 Caroline has been involved in the field of rural electrification using solar energy in Sub-Saharan Africa, contributing to the access of electricity of more than 1.000.000 people.
She has extensive experience in setting up and managing medium scale electricity companies. She dedicated her life to advancing energy access and fighting climate change and poverty. She promotes the emergence of social enterprises through YourAcademy4Growth. She is currently working for GET.invest Finance Catalyst and Solar23. From 2007 till 2018 Caroline was General Director of the Foundation Rural Energy Services in The Netherlands.
She attracted substantial amounts of funding from international organisations like the European Commission, the World Bank and from various governments, international funds, and companies to advance energy access. She has also dealt with many governments regarding for example tariffs negotiation and licenses for concessions. Between 2014 and 2018 Caroline was Vice President/Board Member of the Alliance for Rural Electrification in Brussel.
